Preproduction Plan Blog Post

For our project, we are going to be filming with one of our phone cameras, most likely mine. We will not be needing many materials that we do not already have. The only prop that we do not have is the obituary as it has yet to be printed out, but it is completely finished other than that. The main prop we will be using is a flashlight, which Christy owns, and her piano. We will also be using Christy's clothes for costuming, including a dress that Layla is going to wear (who will be playing the ghost), a black shirt and jeans for the graveyard scene, and pajamas for the rest of the opening. Other items that Christy has will be used in specific scenes, such as her phone and car keys. Besides these essential materials, we may make use of her lamp that can flash different colors, but that will be decided on when we begin filming as we have not thought of a specific scene to incorporate that into yet. We also may decide to use additional props if we find anything that we think would be a good idea to include around her house. We told our friends that they could also bring any items relevant to what we are filming, so there is a possibility that we will end up using what they bring as well. 

The first location we will be filming at is a cemetery near Christy's house. We will probably not be filming too far from the entrance since the main part of the scene is going to be her leaving. We are not going to be getting any shots close to the headstones, but we will most likely get some around the gate and possibly include one of it being left open. We will likely be shooting during the evening/as the sun sets, and the rest of the film will take place at night at Christy's house. We may get a few shots of outside the house, especially during the part Christy pulls up in her car, but most of the film is going to take place inside. We will be using her hallways and living room the most since they offer the best opportunities for spooky shots. Certain corners could add to the effect if we want to take advantage of them, and there is a light that flickers when turned on in an area so we will likely film around there as well. We have specifics scenes we plan to film in her bedroom, but we also may end up using her bathroom, dining room, and kitchen depending on how many ideas we have. 

Christy and I will both be the directors, cinematographers, and editors of our film. I specifically will be the cameraperson and also be planning out most of the shots, angles, and deciding what looks the best while we film. Christy will be playing the main character in the film. Our friends Layla and Mia will also be there to help us incorporate certain conventions such as switching off the lights, opening a door, or whispering/making some sort of noise. Layla will be playing the ghost, although she will not be in many scenes and will also not be entirely visible. We figured this would be best since it is the very beginning of the film and there is usually more building of mystery/intrigue rather than actual ghost sightings/manifestations. Other than that, we do not need anyone to fill any additional roles, as Christy and I have most of it covered by ourselves.
